RECOGNITION OF PERFORMANCE
The recent award that the
site received is a strong testament to the contributions of every individual at the Dagenham site. The site received the Outstanding Achievement Award for Customer Service and Demand
Management and we can feel very proud
that the efforts, positive attitudes and contributions from every employee is acknowledged in this way. This was awarded by
the Sanofi global Supply Chain organisation, and we were the only Industrial site globally to receive an award of this kind. We have recently had our review with PCII management (16th November). This meeting was very positive
and we took every opportunity to ensure they were able to see and touch our prized award !!! Our performance across the full range of performance indicators (KPIs) including our Quality and
Safety KPIs remains very strong, and I am confident that we can finish the year with a strong finish. I also want to thank
all the teams who have delivered plans and actions to improve our 2011 financial performance by year-end. Certainly the PCII
team were full of praise for our overall performance and the financial initiatives. I believe it is fair to say that we continue
to demonstrate performance which exceeds expectations, and that our excellent examples or site stories we shared around the
Aseptic Recovery Improvements, to the Taxotere Lidding complaint reductions, to the Ferrlecit-in-Vials line challenges –
portrays us as a site were employees at all levels and functions continue to strive to deliver. I cannot tell you how proud
this makes me feel. Dagenham continues to give a good account of itself, and that is because of each and every individual
here at site.
General Comments
This edition of INSITE has a great mixture of stories. They range from personal interest articles,
to charity support and examples of excellence in our teams at site.
IA Football and Golf Event: Please take time to read the article about
the Dagenham employees who represented us at the global industrial tournament. Those who attended enjoyed the event, and made
sure that every contest was a tough one for any opponents. In particular I think Andy Jeyes and Barry George performed admirably
in the golf competition, and I am sure some of the European counterparts will have picked up some ‘unusual and rich’
terms they had never encountered before!!
Changes to the Site: I want to thank you for your patience during all the works that took place
regarding our front-of-site entrance, the gatehouse and the car park. I think the facilities, security and engineering projects
teams did a fantastic job to minimise the disruption for us all.
Diversity: It is great to see that the Dagenham Diversity team continue to drive awareness
about the topic of diversity. I am very passionate about this topic, and feel that every employee has the right to feel that
we care about their perspective and their opinions. I applaud the Dagenham team for their efforts and creativity.
Quality and Compliance: I am really pleased to see that our efforts
and priorities around Quality and Compliance are central in all the activities we undertake at site. The progress against
Documentation Right First Time is very impressive, and so is the Aseptic Recoveries sustained performance. Our focus on Quality is absolutely critical in 2012/13, in the same
way it has been in 2011. Why
is this important? – It is important because any issues regarding the quality of our products and processes are unacceptable
from a patient safety perspective, but also very damaging to our reputation and performance. Our vigilance around key topics
such as poor crimps, lidding issues or hairs (inside or on outside of the vials) is seen as a major issue in terms of quality
by the hospitals and patients. The best way for us to secure our site performance terms is to strive for the highest quality
in everything that we do, and to maintain the site at a state of ‘Inspection-Readiness’ at all times. We can rightly
be proud of our reputation in terms of Quality and Compliance, but we need to continue to work hard to maintain this status,
and this relies on each and every employee.
Charity: I would like to thank all those who gave generously and supported the ‘Mark McCarthy’s
Magic Moments charity’. This is a local charity which provides support for cancer sufferers, and those who most need
it. They won a local community award recently at a Barking and Dagenham event. The award was sponsored by the site, and Julie
Neighbour in training judged and gave the award. She was so touched by the people she met that she asked if the could come
onto the site and ask for food donations, to create hampers. This was a great success and the charity was delighted by the
generosity of our employees. Thank you.
Closing remarks
As we approach the end of 2011,
we have many reasons to feel proud and confident. We need to continue to hit our targets for the rest of this year and I am
confident that we can achieve a strong end to 2011. Next year in 2012, we will share our challenges and plans in our January all-employee communications, as
well as our plans regarding Land Regeneration and our Employee Support Programme As this is the final 2011 INSITE, I want to extend my deepest thanks to you all,
and to wish you and your extended families a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year period. I continue to be inspired by
the Dagenham teams, and the attitudes I see every day that I come to work. Thank you - Jim.
